Craigslist Online Dating Advice

I am lazy (I have to be after all it is the name of the site) too busy working on my business to go the bars and clubs. So let me give you some online dating advice.

A few years ago I stumbled onto Craigslist Personals. Being the lazy man that I am I was intrigued.

The first thing that struck me was the amount of CRAP in there. Damn spammers everywhere. I would guess that about 80% of the ads on the by the women were fake and just trying to get your email address.

I fumbled with that for a few days and finally lost my patience. I said screw it.

I decided to post an ad for myself. I created several ads and split tested(as we like to say in my business) them. Nothing scientific. I generated my little ads after going in and checking out the competition. Damn! We men (as a gender) lack originality. I knew I could wipe the floor with my ads.

I kicked ass. There were instances where I had several women messaging me within 5-10 minutes. How did I do it?

Simple.

I hooked them at the headline with something that forced them to click on my ad.

HEADLINE: Do women still laugh?

I asked a question. Of course women still laugh and some women were dying to tell me they laugh all the time.

The actual body of the ad varied since I tried several different things. But what I found to work the best was telling a joke. I suppose it was more of a riddle.

What riddle you wonder?

Riddle/ Joke: What did the farmer say when he found brown chicken and brown cow doing the nasty on his bed?
Answer: Brown-chicka, brown cow…. (with your head bobbing)

CORNY AS HELL I KNOW! Before you go knocking it. The point of that ad was to have them respond and beg for the answer. Sometimes they already knew the answer and wanted to share how much they loved it.

All I wanted was a conversation. Basically it was an opener.

Limitations of Craigslist:

So you are probably sitting there wondering, “How the hell am I supposed to know if they are hot?”
Well you ask for a picture.

Yes, there will be a lot of the BBW on there. Maybe you like that idea.

I, for one did not.

However, I regularly found a beautiful woman in every group. The type of woman that would make you ask what they are doing on craigslist.

When I was single I believed in the principle of “multiple streams of women”. I had the myspace and facebook working pretty good for me. Craigslist was just an added stream so to speak.

Most times these women would typically say that they like to go to CL to get a good laugh. But they read my post and had to respond because I peaked their curiousity and I seemed unlike the rest.

You can do the same.

Take a look at your competetion in all the online spots and outdo them. It’s a numbers game. Some women loved me and some women hated me. Ultimately it’s about finding that one or two that you can have a good time with.

Now go kick ass!

ps
I found doctors, dentists, pre-med students, business women, and a couple of strippers. Crazy but true. It’s just another stream.
